Many a times ETP’s & STP’s are designed for definite capacities and sudden variations in pollution/hydraulic loads will upset the systems; of which recovery can take long time. Urbanization of areas can happen rapidly so that the established sewage treatment facilities often fall short of meeting the fast growing needs; sometimes with the difficulty to find sufficient land for establishing adequately sized biological treatment units.

The process is a fully automatic process which operates and controls the filter station on a continuous basis without the requirements of any operator action. There will be a need to prepare powdered carbon and filter aid. The clarified liquor is fed to an agitated reaction tank. Special slurry of carbon is dosed in proportion to the liquor flow-rate into the reaction tank, where it is mixed into the liquor. This mixture flows to further reaction tanks where it is further agitated, before flowing to the carbon treated liquor tank.
